Lila21 36 Posted October 24, 2010 Hi folks, I am a newbie here, and I've been looking into VSG for a while, and thinking it's likely the right solution for me. My surgeon's program requires you to eat between 500 and 800 calories a day, and I am just fearful that I will be tired on such low calories. Right now, even though I weigh about 300 lbs, my energy isn't too bad, and I just want some assurance that I won't feel terrible after surgery. When I read VSG blogs and this forum I haven't seen much commentary on this. I am wondering if anyone can tell me more about their energy levels during the weight loss phase and if you experienced any difficulty with mood or energy. thanks!!! Papillon 7 Posted October 27, 2010 The first few weeks I felt very run down however, you have more and more energy each day. It is also very important that you make sure to get your Protein in. In the first week you are pretty swollen so the amount you can eat is greatly reduced but this also gets easier as time goes by. I am a little over a month now and I am doing great. I have a lot of energy!! Part of that is being 30 lbs lighter. If you take the time to recover and treat yourself right you will be back up and about in no time. The third day after surgery was the hardest for me. I was very sore and had some pain. It was not unbearable and I made myself get up and try to walk when possible. You really have to take it a day at a time in the beginning. Now, I find myself forgetting I have even had surgery.
