Who's see Dr. Alberto Aceves-Mexicali?

Recommended Posts

There's tons of info on Dr. Aceves here on VST. You should search on his name and get all sorts of info. Personally, in my research of him, I couldn't find anything negative about him. I am completely satisfied with my experience in Mexicali.

He was my surgeon as well as countless others here. He is one of the best sleeve surgeons not only in Mexico but anywhere in the world. His hospital and his staff are A+, you will absolutely love everyone and everything about your experience.

I only had a few very minor complications - but no leaks or anything like that. Thank Goodness!

Best Wishes!!

I need more infomation on this MD. I'm looking into getting a VSG early next year (2011). Woohoo!

Have you read the thread "lets count Dr. Aceves patients?

I would say he has done surgery on about half the people on this board.

What would you like to know? I would be happy to tell you anything you would like to know.

Well, I had extreme nausea post op and even vomitted one time. I also dry heaved a few times and came very close many times to vomitting. This only lasted for about 2-3 days post op though. However, the nausea does come back sometimes still - but I've noticed it's only when I eat something I really shouldn't be eating.

I also was very fatigued for weeks post op. I'm sure it was because of the clear liquid diet and not getting in even 400 Calories per day. My body is not designed to take in such a small amount. My body runs quite efficiently and posting great losses on about 1,000 to 1,200 per day. I'm at about 1,000 right now and feeling better every day. I'm also six weeks post this week so I should be able to easily get back into my workout routines. I'm very positive it should only get better from here.

Those are really the only minor complications I've had, but in reality those complications are quite common and nothing much to become worried over. I'm actually doing quite well, and certainly am very happy I did this! Time goes on and I will get better and slimmer!!!!

I'm glad it's not "BAD" complications. Anything negative to say about your stay in Mexico? Dr. Aceves? Staff? Travel?

Nope. Not one single solitary negative to say about Dr. Aceves or his team, nor the Hospital he practices out of. He is world class!!!

His sleeve and technique is very tiny and very good. I have yet to ever hear about a leak with him, and I didn't have one either. I really want to go back for a one year check up with him, and I'd love to be at goal! That would be great.

I drove myself and was picked up in Calexico which is a 1 minute drive to the border. Ernesto picked us up at a parking lot right around the corner from the Border.

They took such excellent care of me. I never had to wait for more than 60 seconds once I pressed the nurse call button. My biggest complaint to date is that they only had a few English speaking stations. That kinda sucked, however I slept most of the time - so really I was just trying to find something to be negative about. ;)

I never had a problem with anyone not being able to speak English. The nurses that work in the middle of the night don't speak English as well, but I never had any trouble understanding them, or having them understand me.

LOL Daisy! I guess I wasn't too clear about what I meant. I was talking about Television stations -- not the nurses. The nurses all were able to understand my needs very well, and usually there was always one that spoke perfectly good English.

I am currently scheduled for my sleeve by Dr Aceves on November 12th 2010. I have also heard and read nothing but good things about Dr Aceves, his staff and the hospital. I know two people personally that had their sleeve done by Dr Aceves this year and they are doing wonderful.

I have not had surgery yet, nor am I scheduled YET...I have been looking into WLS now for over a year. I went from "Mexico NO WAY" to being convinced in my heart that Dr Aceves is the doctor for me! I have read countless post regarding Dr Aceves. They all are positive and seem to have great results. I love to read new accounts because each one just gives me more confidence in my gut feeling. My mom had the VGS last Feb with a doctor in our local area. She has had great results. Sees him for regular follow up... no complaints, yet she has no great report to post. it seems that the patients with Dr Aceves and the hospital in Mexicali are so overly impressed with the care they received that they are motivated to report and share with others. There is a personal connection that is developed with the doctor and staff. A since of caring that is miss with my mother experience. I have had contact with the office and have had a positive experience thus far. I eagerly await my turn.... I want to be on the looser's bench!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
