So was Dr Pompa your surgeon as well? That is the other concern my family has is going

to Mexico for the surgery....

No, I had a different surgeon. There are good and bad surgeons everywhere: US/Canada/Mexico. I know the facilitators you are using will share with you the board certifications, etc. and also remember that many surgeons in Mexico have performed more sleeves than some doctors in the US. I do believe you are in good hands :)

I haven't had the procedure done yet but would like to add my two cents. For those of us who have had to go through the process of considering weight loss surgery, it means that for X number of years we have not been able to attain the health that we would like. I hate hearing people ask (even if they are trying to be helpful) if I've considered trying to lose weight the "normal" way. If I could do it the "normal" way I wouldn't have yo-yoed for the twenty-nine years of my life, going through diet after diet, pills, shakes, books, crazy fad diets, and never ever achieving long-term weight loss. What you have to ask yourself is, "Will this surgery change my life?" If the answer is yes, then do it. If you're tired of being made fun of, not fitting into chairs, feeling like the fattest person in the room, being at risk for DEATH due to obesity, then the power is in your hands to get the surgery done if you are able. Every surgery has its risks. You could die getting your gallbladder removed or giving birth. But I'm ready. I think it's worth the risk, because the way that I know i'm going, I'll be dead at 35. You've got to do what's best for you and say "F*ck the haters" even if they are your own family. Family loves you unconditionally, and they will eventually come around.

I wish you the best.

I wanted to add that one of the girls who went to Dr Aceves at the same time I did was also from Sask Canada. I'm 2 weeks and 2 days out and I"ve lost 21lbs since surgery 5lbs before. Good luck!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
