Tony 0 Posted October 21, 2010 Hello Everyone! I've been reading posts on the site for several weeks now and I must say, I have to thank all of you. I'm scheduled to be sleeved on Nov 4, and all of the information I've read here has made me feel much better about my decision. I grew up a big kid, but dropped most of my weight throughout my teenage years and into my military years. I even body sculpted for a while, but shortly after the military I put on a lot of weight and struggled to bring it down. Its been over ten years and its only gone up. I finally decided to have the sleeve, and my doctor was very supportive (as is my beautiful wife). I've been on my Pre-op diet for 2 weeks tomorrow. I must admit, the thought of my relationship with food changing was initially terrifying to me. Food has been my comfort, joy and best friend since I was young. I've been coming to terms over the past several months with the emotional and psychological aspects of having the operation done, and after seeing that I'm not alone, I feel very good about, excited even! Well, I just wanted to say hello. Thank you everyone~and please take care! Tony
Dharma-n-love 0 Posted October 21, 2010 Hi Tony and welcome. Congrats on your decision. I was terrified too with the thought of not being able to eat my comfort foods but today is exactly 6 weeks after my procedure and I have found so much more to focus on. I now enjoying cooking and baking for others even though i cant taste it. I have found other things to keep me busy after recovery such as crocheting, word search puzzles, exercising (i actually enjoy it now), gardening. Stuff I always wanted to do but thought i didnt have time. well now i have time. i know crocheting and gardening dont sound too exciting but they keep me calm and busy. Before if i was stressed I would want to go eat something. Start thinking about things that are easy for you to do after surgery, good luck!
Tiffykins 673 Posted October 22, 2010 Hey Tony, and welcome ! ! ! Congrats on getting your date set, and you'll love the sleeve. I remind myself all the time that nothing tastes as good as being thin feels ! ! ! Honestly, I don't miss the big portions, and believe me I was a food lover as well. You'll do great, keep us posted on your progress, and if you need anything, we're here for you.
