PROTEIN DRINKS AFTER SURGERY???

Recommended Posts

I am kinda confused, I know we are suposed to have Clear Liquids after surgery, but can you have like

chocholate flavored Protein Drink, and if so can you put like a banana in it and blend it??

Now Im saying the 1st 2 weeks after surgery.

Thanks,Lisa

What does your doctor say? If he said to be on clear liquids for 2 weeks, then no banana. Clear liquids don't necessarily have to be completely clear, but they are somewhat see through. Isopure is a clear liquid.

You can put unflavored Protein powder into crystal light, gatoraide, poweraide, etc. It will be cloudy from the Protein Powder, but it's still a clear liquid.< /p>

I havent talked to my Dr about this, he is in Mexico.

So I still curious, can we still have flavored Protein Drinks without the banana???

clear Protein Shakes, broths, Jello, lite juices. No bananas until you move to the next stage.

I ate jello yesterday and didn't properly chew it, I let it slide down in a lump and was uncomfortable all night. I'm only 3 days out and am hating the clear liquids. I know how you feel, I think we all do, but if we follow instructions in the beginning, then perhaps we'll be able to change our life long habits of eating the wrong foods. I want to change those habits now.

I was told the same, diluted juices, broths, Water, and sugar free crystal light ice pops...they were a saving grace and are only sold at Walmart. no dark Protein shakes or anything like that. I feel for u because I just started mushies, it's so hard but try and find the popsicles.

Good luck

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
