Hello Everyone,

I was sleeved on Sep 22 and during the first week after surgery I lost 12 lbs! The issue is that during the last 18 days since then I have only lost 4.5 lbs. To me this is crazy! I am still drinking my Protein Shakes so I know I’m getting the Protein I need. I have started to eat a bit but get full and gassy really quick so I don’t eat much. I figure I am getting about 500cal from the drinks and a little more from other things I eat. I read about people losing weight hand over fist and I am wondering if I am doing something wrong. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you all!!!

Sondra

you are doing just fine from what i have read most people loose about 20lbs a month and that puts you right on target. you have lost a total of 16.5lbs which is good. keep doing what you are doing. i have not been sleeved yet but you let me loose 16lbs in one month i will be happy a pig in slop. you go girl! :P

I was sleeved on October 4th. I lost a few pounds the first week, and then only 3 pounds the second week. I read other posts and wonder why I am losing so much slower too. You are not alone in this. I am now 17 days out and have lost only 12 pounds.. But that's close to a pound a day..

it took me 45 years to put this weight on, and if I lose 15-20 pounds in a month, I consider myself way ahead..

Now if I could just stay off the scale three times a day.. :)

Hey,

I think you are doing really well... but the main focus should be on healing and letting your new tummy settle in, the weight loss is just a bonus at the moment.

My first few weeks were exactly the same... the first 2-3 weeks, the weight feel off, then slowed right down and now at nearly 16 weeks out it is slow but steady; I average about 10lb a month... I used to think that was slow... but now I realise that it's average and a healthy way to lose weight.

Remember to take you measurements... this way if you feel your weight loss is slow you have the measurements to reiterate how well you are doing... :)

Good luck and keep up the good work

10 Lbs per month is excellent! If that's true for me I'll be at goal in 9 months!!! Wowww!!

I lost 17 pounds my first month. I stalled at week three and didn't lose again until my second month started.

I lost 11 pounds my second month, and I lost 10 pounds my third month. I now know that I stall for a total of about ten days per month, thanks to my cycle.

I'm a slower loser, but that still averages out to more than three pounds a week. I've never lost 3 pounds a week before.

Yes, it's frustrating. Yep, we want to compare ourselves to everyone else. Women that were sleeved the same month as me, with similar stats, are already more than halfway to goal. But you know what? I am losing. I'm losing faster than I've ever lost weight before. And even though I feel like the slowest loser in the world I can reach my goal in less than nine months from my surgery date. That's just four to five more months.

Once I put it in perspective, there's nothing to be upset about. It used to take me four months of near starving misery to drop 30 pounds before. In comparison, this is almost effortless.

Keep up the good work, you're doing just fine.

~Cheri

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
