Best protein shakes?

Recommended Posts

Just wanted to get some opinions of some good Protein shakes for sleevers. Any suggestions???

I am just copying and pasting this from another post where someone just asked the exact same question.

As for Protein drinks, everybody is different. I really like BSN Lean Dessert. I get the chocolate fudge pudding, the banana pudding, and the chocolate Coconut candy. Sometimes I mix the banana and the chocolate together. I get it at vitacost.com

If I were you I would get some samples first. There is a thread in the food section where you can order samples from a lot of places. A lot of people like Chike. the orange cream is good. I still get samples just to have some variety.

I have tried this in the past and simply LOVE it:

I am pre-surgery and I am wondering if anyone could look at this and tell me if this looks OK? The whole pack makes a HUGE shake, but I was thinking half or a quarter?

I think it is delicious, like an ice-cream shoppe shake with just a little bit of the usual protein-chalkiness

I like the Lean Dessert by BSN too, although have recently switched over to their Syntha 6 as its better value for money. For me I've yet to find anything that beats the Caramel Latte flavour, I've got the moccachino, which is ok, the strawberry I find VERY sweet, but the vanilla is ok too.

I think when I return to the States I will buy one of those Starbucks cups that looks like their clear plastic throw-away cups but is actually a travel mug, you know what I'm talking about? I think I will buy one of those and decant super yummy Protein Shakes into them and take a pretty little plate filled with Protein focused treats from Eggface's blog and go to coffee shops. I'll sit down at a table, spread out my tasty treats on a pretty plate, sip my drink, and make all the people jealous of my yummy goodies. I'm a huge fan of theworldaccordingtoeggface blog and think she has the right idea, making our protein requirements attractive to the palette AND the eye.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
