Christabel 0 Posted October 20, 2010 We have a chance to go on a 4-day cruise over the Presidents' Day holiday in February. My surgery is scheduled for Dec. 28th, meaning I should only be about 6-8 weeks out when we leave. What should I expect to be able to eat? Should I bring food along? Has anyone else been in this situation, and if so, how did you cope? Any advice appreciated! C
MINI-Me 196 Posted October 20, 2010 It really depends on your doctor/nuts meal plan for you. At 6-8 weeks out, I could eat a lot of items. Some people are just off liquids and on mushies by then. The good news is that cruises have so many food options. Plus, if you eat in the main dining room, they are more than happy to help with dietary requirements. For the buffets, you can always find some Soups and "mushy" food. You may want to bring along some Protein powders. How exciting ... a new you and a cruise. I am totally jealous!!! I'll echo this. Check with your Dr first and see what your meal plan is... but by week 4 I really didn't have any restrictions and by week 6 I could eat pretty much anything I wanted (albeit in much smaller amounts). TStew 25 Posted October 30, 2010 The dining room will pretty much make you anything you want! They are amazing! I'm pretty sure cruises are all about the food.< /p> When I went we had a super picky person in the group and while we were being served lobster she was asking for mashed potatoes and mac & cheese and they were happy to accommodate.
