jsouza 1 Posted October 19, 2010 I am having the sleeve done in Mexico in November 18th and I am getting nervous. I have a low BMI 30.4 and I know this surgery is usually done on heavier people but i have struggled for the past 6 years with my weight like a rollercoaster and I am tired of all the fad diets. I am hoping to hear some postive comments about this surgery and maybe even some comments from people like me who do not have a high BMI and have done this surgery. I am going with Dr. Ramos Kelly at INT and would like any info or comments. My sister and I will be recording our "adventure"and sharing our experience in Mexico and our journey to hopefully more healthy and beautiful bodies. Any posts would be appreciated : )
Sac_Girl 0 Posted October 19, 2010 Hey jsouza, You know, my date is Nov 1st. 12 more days I have been over weight all of my life...Like you, I am so sick of fad diets. Try not to be nervous about the surgery... Postive thoughts about it...Only think about the pro's and not the con's. Myself, I will run to the O.R. I spent my frist 50 years being over weight and I will be damn if I spend my next 50 years with this problem. Once again, focus on the pro's and you will be fine. It will be worth it at the end Good Luck to you!

MINI-Me 196 Posted October 20, 2010 I was a "lower" BMI too. Made me laugh that I was considered "little" for an obese person. I am so excited to have finally beaten the fat. I read somewhere that we will always be "obese" - we may go into remission, but our bodies are just made to be obese. That is probably true - especially if you look at my family history. But this little tummy is my secret weapon against obesity. Let's Celebrate remission!!! Best of luck. I look forward to hearing about your journey. It's a wild ride! Sac_Girl 0 Posted October 20, 2010 Hey vicki s, Where are you having the surgery done at--Richmond?
mp8btpc 33 Posted October 21, 2010 Hey there JSOUZA are you Portuguese per chance? I had surgery almost 10 weeks ago and had a lower BMI also. It was weird to feel like the small person in the bunch when going into surgery, but I too have struggled and dieted until I was blue in the face over the past several years only to gain it back and more. I wanted a tool to help me get back to a comfortable weight and to "hopefully" keep it there. I haven't done my two week weigh in, that will be tomorrow but as of 8 weeks I had lost 35 pounds and gone from a size 14 to a 10. What is also strange is I have previously gotten close to the weight I am currently at by dieting but my body shape this time is much smaller and more toned. I think it has to do with my work out routine etc. I just look and feel so much better.
