I got banded on Thursday, tonight I got into a fight with my husband and was very angry. during the arguement I had a water bottle and apparently drank to much to fast. I guess the stress of the arguement tightened me up too. It has now been 2 1/2 hours and I still haven't loosened up for the Water to go down and it hurts. I tried a ice pack for over an hour and walked but nothing seems to work. I am afraid to take another drink cause it will cause more pain, suggestions please.....

you poor thing!

try HOT! try using a heating pad and sipping something like hot herbal tea. Cold for many of us makes us tighter, and I know that stress makes me tighter too.

Sorry you had a fight, and I hope that gets better too.

Be kind to yourself.

I wouldn't drink anything for a little while. But, I would get comfortable with a heating pad. I used my heating pad on my tummy for several days and got lot of relief from it.

I'm sorry about your argument, too.

if your pouch is still full of Water, then no, probably don't drink anymore.

Are you getting the slimes? can you swallow your own spit? If you can do this, I think perhaps sipping something warm might actually help. And yes, I've gotten stuck on water, so I know it hurts.

In the morning, try something warm. I just worry that you will let yourself get dehydrated out of fear.

Sip, sip, sip.

Regina, glad it went down. Now don't be afraid to drink, as the worse thing is to be dehydrated. It can come on quick!! Start out with warm liquids and sip.

Congrats and good luck. Shawn

Try laying down and resting for a little while. The relaxing of your body should relax your stomach as well.

This usually helps me.

I agree with Shawn about starting out with warm liquids. This hasn't been a problem for me, but I have heard many people have tea or coffee first thing in the morning to *open* up the stoma. That may change after a couple of fills. It apparently has a relaxing effect. I would go with that for a few days at least.

Go slow and take care of yourself. But that also means keep on sipping - apparently no gulping for you. You need to keep hydrated.

first i'd try a heating pad. then maybe try to walk around if it's not too painful. hope you feel better soon.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
