Labrys 3 Posted October 18, 2010 I am just 3 weeks out from surgery. Unfortunately, I had to have a root canal last week. So in addition to the regular medications I take, there are 2x Multi Vitamins, 6 Calcium, a B1, and now 3 GIANT antibiotics and some pain pills. What the heck???? I cut the Vitamins in half and any other pills that loom large. They sit at the top of my stomach like lead. Ok .... I'm better now. That was just a vent. Any advice??? hopeandfaith 6 Posted October 18, 2010 My friend had a hard time swallowing her Vitamins so she purchased some chewable Gummy ONE A DAY Multi Vitamins. I tried two and really liked them. They taste just like a Gummy Bear! I haven't had my surgery yet but I'm going to buy some today just to get started. Hopefully, these are the ones I can take after my surgery. Hope this helps! mlr777 0 Posted November 16, 2010 Hi, I was told by my doctor to take chewable vitamins and he said some prescriptions come in liquid form so you may want to ask about that in the future.
AutumnLily 77 Posted November 16, 2010 There is a liquid Calcium made by Wellesse. It is calcium citrate with Vit D and it tastes not too shabby. I found it at costco but I am sure you will find it other places. Lily
FlyGirl 18 Posted November 16, 2010 I ordered UpCal-D online which is what my NUT suggested. It's 500mg calcium citrate and vit-D, comes in a single serving powder. It's completly tasteless but it is a little grainy. I just put it in my bottle of Water and it works perfect. For my mulit-vit I take the Centrum chewables. They remind me of flinstone Vitamins I took when I was a kid and they are just as nasty as I remember BUT luckly they don't have a huge lingering aftertaste. I've been worried about how I'm going to take all my pills after surgery... since I won't be able to take a big gulp. I guess I'll found out soon enough tomorrow is the "big day". LilMissDiva Irene 3,282 Posted November 16, 2010 I'm taking my multi Vitamins and mineral supplement in liquid form. I got 2 big bottles from The Vitamin Shoppe and I've been taking them since 2 weeks post op. I'm only half way through the first bottle. I also bought a bottle of liquid Iron supplement too. I've just run out of the Iron and taking my pills again now. They are not that big though. Vitamin in pill form tends to be rather large, which is why I bought 2 bottles of the liquid. It should get me through the first 6 months post op. Hopefully by then I can stand them a little more. If not I can just crush them, but not into powder.< /strong> The bad thing about the liquid supplements though is no matter how much they try to mask it, the flavor is pretty awful. However, I do take it while drinking some Protein shake. So once I get the vitamin down my throat I can chase the taste away with a drink of chocolate flavor or whatever. Not only that, Vitamins and iron supplements can make you very nauseated. I tried to take it on an empty stomach the first time, and never again. I became very sick from it. I haven't since though since I started coating my stomach with the Protein Shake.
