Checking in at 50lbs!

Recommended Posts

I just wanted to check in. I hit the "magical" 50lbs today! I'm about 2.5 months post-op and things are great.

A couple of fun things to Celebrate as well. I haven't seen the 200s in a very, very long time. It was fun to see 299 on the scale for the first time in years!

My brother brought me a few pairs of his jeans (from when he was a little bigger). They were smaller than anything I've worn in the last 10 years and they fit!!! Designer jeans in "my size" now!!! I'm wearing a pair right now.

All those belts I've bought in stores over the last 10 years are starting to fit too. You know those belts, the ones you buy because you hope they'll fit you on their loosest setting, so you buy them and bring them home and they don't fit. Ya, those ones. They all fit now. I even got to punch a new hole in my favorite belt because it was the only way to be able to keep wearing it.

I also sat down with the family at a restaurant booth the other day. Amazing feeling to be able to slide into the booth without having my stomach get in the way.

Blood pressure is back in a good range (with 1 med instead of 2 meds together). 120/80 and it's been a long time since I've seen that too.

I still struggle to get all my liquids in every day. I still struggle with wanting to eat bad stuff too - but the sleeve doesn't leave much room to "mess up". I'd do it all again in a heartbeat.

Thanks to all here who have provided support. I enjoy being able to come here and read about other people's experiences and to be able to relate mine as well. You're all an incredible group of people.

Congrats. I so know that feeling of having to request a table and not a booth. I fit in a booth this weekend as well without to much trouble.

Congratulations!! I just love reading the awesome NSV's. They really keep me motivated to continue on to getting the sleeve.

Keep up the great work and keep us posted.

That is so awesome -- I think the best thing is that the number is not the really big thing -- all those other things you listed, your pants, your belts, you blood pressure, sitting in a restaurant, are the things that make it all worthwhile -- a number is a number, but boy oh boy, the other things, that's pure gold, isn't it :) Congratulations!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
