Well gonna be honest here... the recovery is quite a bit harder and longer than the band. My eating still feels the same as the band too, so I guess I have a good handle on knowing when it's time to "stop". I can't cheat though! You know how you drink fluids and it blows the food right to the bigger stomach? Yeah, none of that. Pretty much once you get that signal, that's it for ya. And I'm talking REALLY TINY portions too. I couldn't even finish a whole egg with some sausage and cheese for dinner tonight.

Good luck! I know I'm absolutely over the moon for my surgery. I seem to hit stalls then drop a ton in a day or two so far. I'm only a month out too and pert nearly down 20 Lbs already.

Go me!! LOL :D

Everyone must be different. I was band to sleeve. I had surgery on Tuesday and was driving myself around shopping on Friday. I didn't think it was worse than the band. I was back to normal and back at work in less than a week. It's been totally different for me. With the band I felt bad a lot. I had horrible heart burn, reflux at night when I layed down making it hard to sleep. I had a horrible time eating and often had to hold my bra out while I ate so that the food would go down. With the sleeve it's been great. I have had no heart burn, no reflux and no trouble eating anything. I get full really fast but I have found nothing that I could not eat. With the band there were lots of things that I could not eat. I feel back to normal (the way I felt before the band surgery). I am loving the sleeve and can't believe I didn't know about this before I had my band done. I"m self pay so this is the 2nd surgery I've had to pay for.

I'm having my band removed and getting the sleeve. I'm also self pay twice. So im sure hoping this really works. A little scared but I really hope it works. With my band I couldn't eat much at all with out throwing it up. I have had fills, taken them out, put them back still don't loss. This has been going on for 3 1/2 years. I'm really tired of it. Its been hard getting the money to do this again. So im hoping for the best. This is my last chance. Good luck, Joyce

I had my revision surgery on 9/27. It was a bit tougher than the band surgery, but definitely do-able!! The nausea is what got me in the hospital...thank goodness for Protonix and Reglan! Other than that, I was pretty sore at my port site. Of course, that was my biggest incision area again and probably where the most work was performed. Still a tad bit sore every now and then, but other than that, I feel normal and all is well!!

You can't believe the "relief" you feel at having freedom from the band. I didn't realize how controlling it was even though I didn't have a lot of problems with it as some of the others. But, the freedom from not "sliming", being tight one day and loose as a goose the next....I could go on and on.....The sleeve is great!!! You will love it!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
