Am I the Only One?

Recommended Posts

I read the posts of how people drop clothes sizes. How they go shopping for a 14 and end up with a 12 and so forth.

I know you're not supposed to compare yourself to others, etc. I also know that we all have different builds and won't wear the same size at the same weight. So with that said...

Here is my situation. I wore a tight 24 before surgery. As of 2 months ago, I could wear a size 18, if I held my breath. Today, I still have to hold my breath to zip them. And no way I can sit in them, they are so tight in the waist.

My butt and legs are getting really small and I have tons of excess skin on those areas. My abdomen is still very round and plump with no saggy skin at all.

I was wondering if any of you have had something similar where you don't lose in a particular spot.

The reason that I am getting concerned is because I'm only 33 lbs. from goal. It's gonna suck if I have to wear a 20 forever. Besides a size 20 hangs off my butt and legs and looks so dumpy.

I have waited and waited to go shopping for new clothes, but it's looking like there is no point and it's disconcerting.

Another problem is that I have 4 bulging discs in my lower back that prevent me from doing crunches or anything like that.

I would appreciate any feedback or advice. Thanks.

Maddie, I didn't drop sizes until I was out of the "plus size/Woman's sizes". As for your belly, can you ride a stationary bike? That really does help with the tummy area as well. I know it's frustrating, but the fat will redistribute and you'll get into smaller sizes as the months progress. I was wearing a solid 6 back in April, and today I'm in a 2 sometimes a 4, and a few 0's, but I weigh the same? ? ? It's kind of weird, but things shift and it'll all work out in the end.

Tiff, thank you so much. You just made my day. I feel so much better now. I had no idea a stationary bike would help. Sweet. (((hugs)))

You betcha chickee ! ! ! Could you possibly do stand up crunches? I don't know where in your back is problematic, but I do stand up crunches and swear by them. If you want more info on them, you can google them or youtube has videos. I didn't cross my leg over my knee for months when I was still heavy, but you can do them easier than getting on the floor.

I have never heard of the stand up crunch. I am not sure yet if I can do it, but I am headed to youtube right now. Thanks again, Tiff, you're a lifesaver.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
