Des0520 28 Posted October 9, 2010 I seem to get the hiccups often. Not always a fit of them, sometimes just one or two. It doesn't seem to be tied to when I'm eating or drinking. The last ones were half an hour after I drank anything. Anyone have any ideas how to reduce or stop this?
sleevesearch 14 Posted October 9, 2010 I get them too, for me it is associated with eating & drinking. I hold my breath to slow them down. Helps alittle.
sel1944 0 Posted October 9, 2010 me too. i get them throughout the day aswell. not sure what causes them. i heard some one in another post say that it might be due to a full signal but i'm really not sure. hope someone posts to find out how to avoid them (especially when i'm shopping)
GeorgieGirl1957 0 Posted October 10, 2010 The full signal hiccup I get is different from the ones I get during the day associated with food. I can't explain how. It just is always one loud one. I used to get 30 mins after I started feeling full. So I would stop at the sensation and then 30 mins later, ONE BIG HICCUP. Now, I get the ONE BIG HICCUP, with the sensation of fullness. So at least my signals are in synch now. Ha! The others ones I get at random times are usually more than one. They can all be loud at times though. gg
lunarose 97 Posted October 10, 2010 Hi, I get random hiccups too but usually will get one when I either eat too fast or too much. I rarely have more then two or three at a time. Nancy
seattle sleeve 1 Posted November 13, 2010 I just got sleeved two days ago and got some hiccups that lasted for an hour at a time. Doesn't seem like a big deal but every hiccup stresses my abdomen a bit, which is no fun when the incisions are nice and fresh! I called the on-call dr and he said it was pretty normal and didn't have much to do with what you eat/drink, he said it was something about general stresses on the esophagus. I was prescribed valium before my surgery for help sleeping and keeping by body relaxed and the Dr said that would help get rid of them, he also mentioned that alternating between sips of something hot and cold will help. I tried both and they seemed to work...hopefully if they are bothering you, one of those options might work for you.
