Trained singers or musicians out there?

Recommended Posts

Hey weird topic I know.. I wondered if there were any trained vocalists out there who use deep diaphragmatic breathing? Or musicians?

I sang a funeral the other day and noticed while I was singing that my breathing is strange. Like I am imagining my diaphragm muscle (the singer's breathing muscle) that sits right on top of the stomach.. well I guess it's a little confused about what's going on in there and wondering where my stomach is? Or maybe that was where my port was sewn in and now that got ripped out. I don't know, I just felt that I couldn't get a real deep breath and carry my phrases over as long as before. Anyone know anything about the subject? lol... I kinda wanted to talk with someone about it! Hoping maybe my muscle will heal and get strength up again to help me out!!

I am not a singer, but I am a bellydancer. We use a lot of abdominal isolations... I have not gottent the surgery yet, but wonder if all the little lap cuts will affect my dance movements after the fact... hope it works out for you! That is kind of scarey.....

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
