hi there!!! are there really gay people here?!?!?!?

Recommended Posts

Welcome, new gay sleevers!

Tomorrow is my one-year Surgiversary! I'm down 134 pounds from a top weight of 381. I'm 34, 6"2' gay male. Married and happy as hell.

That said, It's hard work. Not necessarily physically (for me), the weight came off practically on it's own, but mentally, emotionally and experiencially it's been a challenging year.

Do what the doctors tell you about HOW to lose the weight, constantly remind yourself WHY you lose the weight and, most importantly, do some sort of emotional work to figure out why you gained the weight in the first place. I strongly recomend support groups like Overeaters Anonymous and individual therapy. Some doctors offer support groups as well, which weren't a fit for me, but might be for you.

My only regret is not doing it sooner. Take lots of photos and get ready for an exciting adventure!!!

Hey, new here. Just been kind of observing. All the stuff I have been reading has been very encouraging. I'm to be "sleeved" on April 28th. I'm anxious, excited, and scared. I'm ready to start a new chapter in my life! ????

Hi bobbyy! How did things go?

Howdy to all of the new folks that have found the group! I am about 6 months out and doing great. The goal my doc and I agreed upon is only 40 lbs away and I couldn't be happier. If I can help any of the new folks in anyway please don't hesitate to ask. This site/forum has been a great resource for me so if I can help/support someone else that would be great. I certainly don't have all the answers and I am still fairly new but I will do what I can to support my WLS peeps! :-)

Hi! I'm Art. I just got my sleeve on 10/14. Been doing great, so far. Looks like you're about year ahead of me.

I hope all is well with you!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
