NikiS 31 Posted October 7, 2010 Hi Everybody. I visited this site for a couple of weeks before officially joining on Oct. 1. This iste is has proven to be a tremendous blessing to me. So many of my unspoken questions have already been answered just by reading your testimonies and experiences. I do still have a few questions like how long after all of the testing does it take to get a surgery date and how long should I take off from work after the surgery. I know these are questions for my doctor but I am just so nervous, anxious and excited!!! I am only in the infancy stage of this process. So far I have attended a seminar, had blood drawn and on Oct. 11 I am scheduled to have an Upper GI and an Ultrasound. Is it crazy that I have butterflies already about my Oct. 11 appointments??? Hope you all are having a great day! Niki
lisabug 10 Posted October 7, 2010 I am in the approval process with my insurance right now. As for the surgery date, it depends if you are going through insurance or are self pay. I just finished all of my testing and the 3 month multi discipline needed for aetna on Monday. My surgeon's office said that it takes about a week for them to file then up to 30 days to get a response from the insurance company. I was told to expect to take off 2 weeks after my surgery. The emotions change daily for me. Nervous, excited and even a little overwhelmed at times. This forum is the best thing in the world for us newbies. Good luck!!! NikiS 31 Posted October 7, 2010 When I initially met with my surgeon, he told me I'd have to have an ultrasound and an upper GI. He also said that I'd need a psych eval, have to meet with a nutritionist and take a class. I wonder how long he'll wait to even submit the paperwork after I've completed all of the testing. I know I'm jumping the gun but today I just feel super nervous mixed with some anxiety. I have IBX and was told that they generally approve. I guess I'll find out soon enough. Onward and upward right?!
lisabug 10 Posted October 7, 2010 Testing wise I had to do pulmonary eval and psych eval. I have to do bloodwork 10 days before surgery. Every dr is different on just about everything from testing, pre op diet and post op diet. I keep telling myself to be patient and what is meant to be is meant to be. At first I was so scared of denial now I am ok with that it is everything else. The emotional attachment to food and my pepsi are the hardest for me. I am scared that I am going to miss food and the satisfaction of it. This is definitely an emotional journey, but I am ready to be healthy and have more energy and liking the person I see in the mirror.
