Monday_thru_Friday 0 Posted October 7, 2010 I'm scheduled to have my VSG in early November and my doctor said I should take two weeks off of work. I work in an office, holding down a chair all day, nothing physical whatsoever. I highly doubt I'd be able to get that much time off. I was told by the nurse that I'll only be in the hospital over night, but she also said to take 2 weeks off. Can those of you that had surgery tell me what a realistic recovery time would be? Thanks! thickinphilly 1 Posted October 7, 2010 kiwimitts i had the same question and i am being told it all depends on your body and how well you recover. some said they were off a week, one menber said she had surgery on a wednesday and was cleared for work the following monday. i guess how well your body responds to what happen to it. me personally, i am taking two weeks off just to be on the safe side and like you i do office work nothing too physical but i want to make sure i give myself enough time to adjust to what has happen to my body. your are a little further in the process. i,m only three months in and my insurance company has a six month waiting period. i done most of my testing. i have my sleep study at the end of the month. juliarh 35 Posted October 7, 2010 I think recovery varies for each person, but I was very weak and not feeling good for at least 10 days after the surgery. I know that's not what you want to hear, but I know there are others who have bounced right back -- :/
