Facebook & Twitter Integration

Recommended Posts

Hey All!

We're happy to introduce our Facebook & Twitter Integration!

For users who are not currently logged in, or for guests, you can easily associate your account or create your account by clicking the Facebook or Twitter Icon at the top left of your screen next to the Sign In link. Once you've done this you'll be taken to a login page where you can enter your Facebook information and complete the signup or account linking process, it only takes a few seconds!

If you're already a member and you're logged in, you can easily connect your Facebook and/or Twitter accounts.

For Facebook Connect, Click Here!

For Twitter Connect, Click Here!

Simply follow the instructions from there, and you'll be connected in no time.

Some of the cool things you can do with the new integrations are:

- Synchronize your Profile Photo and Avatar Photo with Facebook or Twitter

- Synchronize your Facebook or Twitter Status with your VerticalSleeveTalk Status (Both ways!)

- Synchronize your Profile "About Me" with your Facebook or Twitter "About Me"

- Update your Profile "Background" with your Twitter Background

Once you're connected all of these options are configurable right in "My Settings" -> "Profile".

Let us know here if you have any problems, have any questions, or just how you like this new feature!

Can I ask what this actually means..... I use FB every day, but I don't want people knowing I have had the sleeve op....if the connection between this site and FB means that I'll get things posted on my FB wall about the sleeve then I'll pass on this.

Same with me -- my health is my private business -- I don't want them to know . . . please let us know if the connection with FB is different than we anticipate!

I actually have an avatar account for Sleeve Info only... so I can see this coming in really handy. Now I don't have to update my status there AND here too. Nice!

However, I do not discuss my surgeries with anyone on my personal FB account.

Good idea . . . but given the subject matter of this site. IT's kinda private . . . not for all of the "fb friends". I won't be integrating my profiles! lol

Is there any more clarification with this at all as I've not even bothered to click on the FB chat box for fear it might post something on my FB profile. :(

I created an entire new FB account for my weight loss and only folks that know about my WLS and friends are on there. I do not post anything and everything on my real FB account. You can sync it to the fake account so you won't worry that things you don't want to be said on FB will be on there.

So, first it has to be synced to your FB account of your choice - AND - you have to click the little box to post it there. You're safe unless you do those two things.

That's the last thing in the world I would use. I am very careful about what I say on face book. I like Facebook, but I don' t want everyone who I am friends with on there knowing everything about me. I can't separate the people who are my very close friends and my relatives who I tell as little as possible to. Therefore, I am very generic about what I say on facebook.

Facebook and VST are about as far apart as me and the man on the moon.

I think I'm getting how it works (and I'll NEVER use it), but what I don't get is the point of the whole thing, like... why anyone would need it? Am I missing something?

I get the point in that your FB profile pic would automatically update here, etc and as a Techno geek it sounds neat but I'm with everyone else in that the sleeve is not something that I am comfortable discussing with everyone - to the point (for now) that I'm not even posting identifying information on here (non-members can see posts) and I don't want identifying pics from my FB on here. I'm sure I'll feel differently once I've been here a while or after I actually get sleeved but even then I will not be integrating with other sites. Thanks for the option, though. :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
