Dr. Pompa & LIMARP Surgical Unit

Recommended Posts

Hey guys I just got off the phone with the LIMARP Surgical Unit in Mexico I love ther facility and

have watched all of their youtube videos to find out more information. The cost of the VSG is $6500

and that includes everything even the stay at a spa type resort for two days and includes your family member to stay as well for free and airport pick up to and from the airport. I am excited about this, but I want to know has anyone used them and do they have any negative comments on them before I make my final descsion.

I also used LIMARP/LIzaMARiaPompa :) and had a great experience. I am doing well on my weight loss and my recovery has been pretty easy, just some acid issues.

The negative comments I found about Dr. Pompa were actually on another forum and a couple people stated that she did not make her pouches as small. They had both had a barium contrast (think thats how it is termed) a few months out of post op and the sleeves were really small at the top but not as small at the bottom. I believe one of them had hers redone by Dr. Aceves. I actually didn't read about these miraculously until after I had my surgery. I do know most of this went down around the first of last year and Dr. Pompa was consulted regarding the size of the pouch left behind. So I am hoping that after those complaints she has fine tuned her pouch size.

I know that a Canadian coordinator takes a large group at least once a month to her. She is a very very good doctor with a great safety record and the groups that have been taken have had great results. Since I myself am doing well on my weight loss I can't complain. I just brought these up because you asked and I wish I had at least read about it before I had surgery, and to give you a chance to address it with her before you go.

The facility was great, the staff was wonderful and attentive though I am a pretty self sufficient patient. At this point I would use her again in a heart beat. I can't wait to check out my pouch at my 6 month leak test.

Good luck and keep us posted!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
