suchadiva 0 Posted June 11, 2006 :help: Hi everyone, I'm sooooooooo glad yall are here! I was banded Wednesday, June 7. I had a problem with dehydration the day following, felt horrible, and went to the ER. :cry They have me IV fluids, kept me overnight and I felt better. I'm still worried that I won't get enough fluids because it seems that I get full real quickly - at about 2 or 3 ozs. At least I think I'm full because I get this pain in my chest. I have gas too, but I don't think that is what it is. Is the pain in my chest because I'm full? Does it seem normal to only be able to take a small amount of liquids 3 days post op? Any ideas on getting more liquid in? I have been sipping and sipping - I just don't want to feel like I did, because it was awful. I am thirsty, because my mouth feels dry from time to time. Thanks so much for being here. suchadiva
the best me 6 Posted June 11, 2006 Hang in there and keep sipping. The pain is from sipping too much at once. Yup, too much. I was very tight post surgery and didn't start to see relief until after 3 bags of IV fluids and 2 weeks post-surgery. That seems like a lifetime ago. Now I can chug ounces upon ounces of Water on an empty stomach with no discomfort. It does get better. I was thirsty, too. Avoid the pain, it's because your pouch isn't draining very fast and it fills up quickly. Stick to liquids and hyrdate as well as you can, and have some patience. I know it's hard. I also wish I had discovered Aloe Vera juice early on. It's very soothing and healing, and would be perfect for sipping an ounce at a time, several times a day. Good stuff. You can get it at Wal-Mart with the Tums, etc. Hang in there, it gets better!

Woodys 0 Posted June 12, 2006 I find the juice has a musty odor and flavour, on its own I don't find it pleasant at all. It does suggest that you could dilute in your bottle of drinking Water or juice. Today I put 4 oz of aloe vera in 24 oz water bottle, you can taste it a bit but much more bearable...been sipping it all day. Carol
DonnaB 3 Posted June 17, 2006 Try the berry flavored aloe vera juice and add a "shot" of organic apple juice to it. Makes it much better. Notice I don't say good - just much better. The reason for the organic apple juice is that it's 100% juice with no sugar or chemicals added. Much better for you.
