It's perfectly normal to feel that way you do. You DON'T have any restriction and you won't until you get a fill or two. I go for my second the same day as you go for your first. It sounds like you're on a full liquid diet. I was hungry and called the dietician because I HATE yogurt and she let me have 4 oz of lite ricotta cheese. THAT was filling and has Protein. I also found that Tomato Soup filled me up a lot more than other types.

If the hunger is too great, call your surgeon. They usually allow you to advance to a soft diet. Hang in there, better days are coming.

If you have a Trader Joe's near you, check out the Tomato Soup w/roasted bell peppers. It comes in a box. Lots of flavor, no chunks. It helped me a lot.

Just do your best to stick to the diet. Remember the liquid/mushie stage is to help your stomach heal, not to punish you. You want your poor injured stomach to remain calm. If you eat more substantial food it will start churning to digest and it could hurt your stitches. Be patient. It will pass.

Kate - who just started eating real food this week.:hungry:

Campbell's Bean with Bacon, pureed, is quite filling. Sounds gross but it's actually pretty tasty. I also like cottage cheese but you'd have to get an OK from your doctor for that.

Good luck, welcome to band land.

Split pea Soup.< /p>

That was the most difficult time for me. I have complete empathy and also have faith you will get through it.

Do NOT allow yourself to think negative thoughts about the band until you've had several fills. It took me to fill #3 to even feel like I had a band. You have to know that going in so that your brain can fight your heart when you're feeling let down in the early days. This is the time for healing, not for weightloss.

If it fits with your Dr's instructions, try pureed cottage cheese and marinera sauce (equal parts of each). YUM and filling.

Good luck! You'll be on the losing side in no time.

Are you drinking your Protein? It will help sustain the hunger.

Hang in there/ I honestly had VERY BAD thoughts about my band for a while after I had it and it gets better. I promise you it will be better.

Drink your Protein. If you need help finding some you can tolerate, let us know, we all have advise/suggestions on which ones to try.

Thank you so much for your words of wisdom.....I come to this site prolly 20 times a day to get inspiration....i don't want to fail.

Cindy, I am 8 days post op right now and doing the same thing as you. My doctor stated in the hospital that I will not have restriction for one month and I shouldn't worry to much about it. I feel that the weight will come off regardless, even if it doesn't start right away. Try and stay on the post op diet the best you can and hopefully you will get a fill sooner then later. Mine is at the 4 week mark. Good luck.

Cindy, this part is hard, for me it was extremely hard. But IT GETS BETTER, I PROMISE...I'm almost 2 months out and I don't let myself get hungry. The bean w/ bacon Soup idea I got from PhotoNut SAVED ME from myself at that stage. Hope that helps!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
