Hi , sorry your having all these issues. . . but you say your having gas pains (swollen) you say your still on fluids (swollen), you say your only 8 days post op (swollen), you say your nauseated (ummmm swollen). . . you need at least 2 - 2 1/2 weeks before you will see any marked results. . . go put the scale into the garage, hide it under something and forget it. . . i used to only weigh at my doctor appts. . . if you weigh yourself too often you will become frustrated and depressed. . . i had buyer's remorse big time, but not because i wasn't losing weight, it was because i couldn't eat as how i wished i could. . . now at 9 months out i am so glad i had this done, and there's no going back! Good luck you'll do ok. . .
Tiffykins 673 Posted October 5, 2010 Your body is still pretty pissed off at you. Let's be honest, they pump you full of fluids during surgery, you're healing, and your body is still in shock from trauma and anesthesia. I was a scale whore, and it's what worked for me. But, that doesn't mean it's going to work for you. When you stress, you're body goes into fight or flight mode, and right now it's fighting. Keep following your program, stay positive, and if you have to, put the scale away. We didn't get fat overnight, we're not going to get skinny overnight. It's not a uncommon for our bodies to hold onto weight the first couple of weeks post-op. Give your body a break, and realize that at only 8 days out, you can't expect to drop 10-20lbs. The average sleeve patient loses 10-20lbs per month for the first couple of months then it drops down to 5-10lbs per month. Depending on how much you have to lose, and how your program is set up, you'll lose weight, but don't compare your results to anyone else.
coops 1,790 Posted October 5, 2010 Hey... try not to be so hard on yourself... like Tiff says you need time to recover; you've just had major surgery and your body needs time to heal, settle and adjust! Give yourself plenty of TLC and rest. I am sure you will see the weight coming off soon. Take good care of yourself at this stage x
Jordien 30 Posted October 5, 2010 I echo the others. Chin up! It will come off, you'll see!!

Starting to have buyers remorse. I actually gained a few ponds in the hospital from my presurgery weigh in. I was bummed out a little too then I read everyones posts. Hide your scales for at least 2 weeks . Follow your program and it will come off. I'll be 5 weeks soon and I'm down nearly 50 lbs. Everyone is a little different but the weight will come off! juliarh 35 Posted October 5, 2010 I lost 18 pounds pre-op and gained it all back from the surgery and the IVs -- so don't worry -- it will come off, really! I remember feeling sooooo disappointed that I hadn't lost anything but GAINED . . . . but soon all that Water weight will disappear along with your waistline! Sending positive vibes your way . . . . SParkle 4 Posted October 6, 2010 I gained when I was in hospital... and was so upset... but you must take heed about the long term game you've just started... it'll come off, don't fret. Just concentrate on recovering and drinking your fluids. Good luck
My New Life 0 Posted October 9, 2010 My doc said that they intentiaonally put several pounds of Fluid in you so that you can go a few days without lots of fluids after. There is also a lot of internal swelling that doesn't even peak until day three. I am at day 4 now and I still try to stay away from the scale. I cheated once. Hiding it is a good idea. Maybe I will have hubby do that for a few weeks. My New Life 261 high 237 day of 230 today 161 goal
