I did it! I hit goal over the weekend. In fact, I'm a little under it.

I just kept staring at the scale. It hasn't moved much at all the past 3 or 4 weeks, so I was in shock. I didn't break down in tears, I didn't do a happy dance ... I just kept getting off & getting back on.

I finally realized that I was standing in the bathroom totally naked getting on an off the scale so I decided to come out. I just looked at my husband and said, "I did it. I'm under 135 pounds. I haven't weighed this since I was 17". He did his best to congratulate me, but he really didn't get it - HOW COULD HE? I still don't get it. :):)

But, I MADE IT! I hit the goal that my nutritionist and pyschologist said I would not be able to achieve. I knew I could and my surgeon had faith in me as well.

Now that I'm here, I'm still considering going a little further. Somewhere between 125 and 130. Not exactly sure yet, but it feels like I can lose a little more. I'm still in a healthy BMI range if I go down, so here I go. Keep me accountable! OK?

That is awesome Mini Me!!! Congrats to you!!!!!! A million smiles to you! Sometimes its good to go a little below goal so that way you can have some wiggle room. Once you notice your going up again, you can catch it and go back down.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
