Hey Yall, This Looks So Exciting!

Recommended Posts

Hey yall, my name is krystal! I just found this place about 10 min. ago and it is just what I am looking for! I have struggled with my weight all of my life and have been obese for about 10 years. I am only 28 years old. I am ready for a change. I had considered gastric bypass and was approved about 4 years ago. I did not have the surgery because one week before my date the surgeon was put under investigation. I took this as a sign and went on my merry way (weigh). Four years and some pounds later (in the wrong direction), I decided to give banding a try. :clap2: The only thing is I am now on a different insurance, and I don't think that they will approve this. I am determined though and will do whatever I have to to raise the money . I am close to 200 lbs overweight. I dont know how it got this bad. I am ready for a step in the right direction. For myself and my family. I am soooo looking forward to being an acive participant on this site!

:typing:

I'm fairly new here too and I myself had fought with my insurance company and gave up and now I'm self paying In Monterrey Mexico.

I think it all boils down to how bad we want to get rid of this life altering mess called fat. I want mine gone yesterday. My date is July 10 for surgery.

There are lots more people who know LOTS more than I do so you can ask them questions. I do know they're are all kind of financing companies that will finance at low interst rates for health reasons. Just ask.

Good luck and I think you've come to the right place.

Sherri

Welcome to LBT both of you!

Good luck on the insurance fight Krystal. I have to admit to loving insurance companies. Quick to take the cash, so slow to give any out. Hmm that sounds remarkably like a protection racket... :)

Good luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
