mboski 4 Posted October 12, 2010 I also read while doing the Atkins diet (high Protein, low carb) that it is very important to get enough fat (good kind of fat such as olive oil) in your diet. This will aid in the Constipation department too.
BlackBerryJuice 349 Posted October 13, 2010 Just to inform those who haven't had the sleeve, Constipation is not a guaranteed fate after this surgery. I've had no problems save for maybe 3rd or 4th week post-op. I generally go daily, every once in a while it's once every 2 days. I also exercise regularly, though, and that tends to get things moving (ever heard of runner's trots? hehe). I don't take Fiber supplements, but I do try to eat 3-4 servings of fruits and vegetables daily and I don't eat low carb.
chilo1 62 Posted October 13, 2010 What do you take? I hate to keep taking a laxative. I put fiber in my Protein Drinks but it doesn't seem to be enough. I put fiber in my drinks doesn't work either, my surgeon told me to take senna (senokot, maybe another brand in the US) i take one nearly every night now the only way to keep me going. I do eat a bit of fruit and veg, still bad Constipation though
Maddie 9 Posted October 14, 2010 When I was pregnant with my 2nd child my feet grew from a size 7.5 to a 9 and I only weighed 167 lbs when she was born. Since surgery, I have lost 84 lbs. and still in a size 9. My wedding rings fit for the first time in years. I have only had 3 episodes of Constipation since surgery. I think it was due to the pain meds. No problems now.
