5 Months Today and I'm posting pics!

Recommended Posts

Today is my 5 month surgiversary.

Everything is going great...I don't have really anything new to report.

I'm down 67 lbs since surgery and 91 total.

I haven't taken measurements in a while...need to do that soon.

I'm still not exercising very much...wish I could make myself LIKE it. I did walk 2 miles tonight.

I don't log my food everyday but I eat pretty much the same things over and over so I have a good idea where I am on any given day.

I love my sleeve....my hubby named her Veronica. LOL Don't ask..he names everything including our houseplants.

I have so much more energy now and I'm starting to like shopping again. One of my employees came over this evening and I cleaned out my closet and gave her 4 garbage bags worth of clothes. I think I now have about 3 pair of pants that fit...lol

I went from a tight 24 pants and 2x/3x shirt to a 16 pants and a regular xl shirt.

Starting to get a little flabby and wrinkly in my upper arms and inner thighs but it's not too terribly bad yet.

I've had zero problems so far and other than being impatient I've had a very textbook experience.

All my co-morbs are gone which is the absolute BEST thing about losing weight.

I feel like I'm gaining my health back which is the best feeling. I didn't even realize how much my weight was affecting my health and holding me back from LIFE.

To anybody on the fence...I say GO FOR IT..this is the best thing I've ever done myself and I've not had a single moment's regret.

I'm over halfway to goal and hoping I'll make it there. I have great restriction although it does vary. It's a very strange thing to me still.

I had to dig deep to find some before pics because I absolutely HATE pics of myself....and they're quite embarrassing to me. I still don't like the camera so my two post op pics are self pics with my iphone that I took to send to one of my best friends who lives in a different state than me.

All I can say is WOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOW!!!!! Okay the first pic; I said "self, she is pretty". And so I scroll. Your Name says it all "goodlife". You look awesome. Continue to be truly Blessed. In life whatever we do to overcome our obstacles, I know there is a HIGHER up I (we) can call on to keep the faith.

CONGRATS on your loss.

We are just about 12 days difference on our surgery dates. You look great! I know what you mean about the pictures, I am forcing myself to take pics and share them. One thing I remind myself of is just how helpful it was to see those of others when I was making my choice to have this surgery, what an inspiration those pictures were! And now Girlie, we will be someone else's inspiration to change their life forever!

So proud of you and so glad I found this forum so that we could share our journey together!

I still say that we all need to plan an in person reunion for folks that are members here, we should pick a central location for a girls weekend and have some fun!

Congrats, you are doing it!!!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
