I was doing great the first weekor so and then it hit me as well. Here's the saving grace for me, My family Dr called to see how I was doing and told me to eat (get this) Utz Vinegar and salt potatoe chips 1-2 ata time and or Clausion Dill pickle chips. It seems that the vinegar kills the nausea almost right away and I am so sick of pickles and the chips right now but am not nausious anymore. I too switched to Flintstone chewables and just doubled the doseage.

Hi all -- I had all the nausea and massive (and I mean MASSIVE) heartburn up into your throat kind until just last week (week 6 for me) -- I've also had off and on again diarrhea.

I had nausea whenever I ate too fast or too much and then I would dry heave (nope, nothing would come out). I had massive heartburn that would wake me up and then I went back to my surgeon and he told me to take 2 nexxium -- (I was taking 1). I am supposed to be taking nexxium for at least 3 months up to 6 months after surgery.

Well, all of that was last week. I am now back down to 1 nexxium (yay!) -- have had NO heartburn, and no nausea this week. go figure. I still have the off again, on again diarrhea -- but I figure my stomach is trying to sort itself out.

I am eating solids now too. I don't know if that's the difference or not.

I found that when I was on the mushies (oh how I hated the mushies) that I was constantly ill -- I couldn't stomach the mushed up food -- so I made mine not so mushed up (with some chunks) and ate it soooooo slowly -- it was the only way to get food down. Plus I relied on my Protein powder -- I put it in everything I could just so I would get the required Protein in.

And I drank drank drank Water alllll day long. It was the only thing that made me feel good.

I was getting nauseated often too. I noticed it especially after taking my Multivitamin. After researching on here and speaking to my surgeon it turns out the Multivitamin was the cause! The surgeon said he has received a lot of complaints about the brand - Bariatric Advantage. I got some samples from him for Celebrate Vitamins and it looks like I'll be switching to them.

Have you tried using different Vitamins? You can get free samples online, too.

I tried many different multi-vitamins.. The only one I can tolerate (except the gummies, which are not complete) are the Flintstones complete chewables. They aren't the yummiest, but I have gotten used to them, and they don't make me nauseas at all.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
