M2G 1,836 Posted September 28, 2010 So my paperwork from my surgeon says that Splenda is okay, but stay away from Equal and Sweet & Low. Great. My question is what about Agave and Stevia? Has anyone heard good or bad about them? I like Stevia in my Decaf coffee and a pinch of Agave Syrup on my greek yogurt. I will ask my NUT next week, but wondered if anyone has had experience with anything other than Splenda. I haven't had surgery yet. Thanks!
BlackBerryJuice 349 Posted September 28, 2010 Agave Syrup has lots of calories, so I definitely wouldn't consider it an artificial sweetener. I assume when your doc mentioned artificial sweeteners, he wanted you to go calorie-free. Stevia's ok, I find it bitter, but I'm generally sensitive to bitter tastes. M2G 1,836 Posted October 8, 2010 My NUT said Stevia is just fine.
feedyoureye 3,087 Posted October 9, 2010 My NUT said Stevia is just fine. I have been using stevia packets from Trader Joes and it seems a lot less bitter than I remember in the past. I like it. Mild and clean.
