clc1973 0 Posted September 27, 2010 I was banded over 4 years ago - it was great I lost over 100lbs. Until I developed bad reflux, vomited a lot and then realized I could eat like my former self. Went to the Dr and found out the band had slipped. It was also causing me pain and discomfort depending on how I moved or stretched. I am having it removed and being sleeved in 17 days. I will not get on a scale and have given myself permission to eat whatever I want until I need to start Clear liquids...I figure I've been so good for the past 4 years - even if I gave a few pounds, its ok. I wasn't nervous, until I started thinking about things in the hospital. Not a fan of those places and hate that I have to spend the night. Could you please share your in hospital experience so I have an idea of what to expect? Thanks!
LilMissDiva Irene 3,282 Posted September 27, 2010 clc, first of all, don't worry! I know it's easier said than done, but right now concentrate on gathering all the things you will need post surgery. For those of us who are Revisions, we've already BTDT. We know what is needed after WLS to keep us comfortable and to have all of our nutritious drinks ready to go. Second, I think once you realize how different the sleeve is and once you get past the first few days - you will see the sleeve is the way to go! Keep in touch here and let us know how you're doing! clc1973 0 Posted September 27, 2010 Thank you! DId you have to stay in the hospital? Also - I hear some people get catheters - others do not - Ugggh - I do not!
LilMissDiva Irene 3,282 Posted September 27, 2010 I stayed in the hospital for 3 nights, and believe me it was very much needed. I did a catheter once, but that was all I needed. I've had other abdominal surgeries where I had a catheter kept in for a day or so, and I'm not sad I didn't have it like that this time!
