I've been going through some information online about Hypertension. I never knew what the limits for this was until tonight. Based on what I've been reading, i've got high blood pressure. At my last appointment with my GP they didn't take my blood pressure but I know previously it was 160/80 and based on what I've read they prescribe medication when people are over 140.

Does anyone else here have high blood pressure going into this surgery and what is your doc doing about it before your surgery ?

high blood pressure parameters use to be 120/80, but it has gone up to 130/80 (systolic/diastolic)

generally when someone has high bp, the doctor will prescribe a medication (commonly lisinopril) to help with lowering of bp. but if people diet properly, control stress, get treated for sleep apnea, exercise, etc. high bp can be lowered and controlled.

i had high bp, was put on lisinopril but was able to decrease it myself naturally after about 3 months on the medication and then i was discharged from the medication. has been around 126-130/78-80 for the past 7 months or so.

interesting...

I have high bp ONLY at my TMJ specialist. (155/85 one time...went down to 145/75 about 10 min later). So, I talked to my pcp and he said it was fine...that what he would have me do I am already doing (losing weight, exercise, etc). At his office my bp is 133/72. go figure. It is so confusing. BUT I will pull the TMJ docs notes because she has it documented I have high bp. =) Might help for a documented co-morbidity.

I was monitored by my physician. Had an elevated bp at a yearly checkup, so she started seeing me every 3 months to take it, and after a while she said she thought it was time I went on a medication. we tried a few different things until we found one that worked. as far as the sleeve, my surgeon said keep taking it and most likely with weight loss I could come off it. I'll go back to monitoring with my fam. doctor every 3 months and let her handle it. Being on BP medicine was one of the biggest reasons I qualified with my insurance company for surgery.

You have to have more than one reading in which the BP is high on different ocassions to be diagnosed with hypertension. White coat syndrome is when for some reason people get high readings because they are nervous/anxios when BP is taken by a health professional.

I've got my old medical records here and back in 2007 when I got my UID my blood pressure was similar. So I'm going to take it with me to my appointment on the 4th and have them start monitoring it.

I also did a program called lighter life where I had a check up every 30 days so I've got those records as well and it's fairly consistent.

I hope it's one more good reason to approve me for the surgery but in the meantime help me take some steps to bring it down.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
