Night out!

Recommended Posts

I had my 1st night out since surgery last night(7 & 1/2 weeks out)! I bought a pair of jeans size 14 (UK-I'm still not sure how this translates in US size, I think it might be 12 US??) and i could fit into them!! So I wore them last night with a pair of black stilletos and a loosley fitted top (still have issues with my tummy) I felt good about myself like I haven't in a long time. People commented on how good I was looking and I even had 2 cosmo cocktails (I know empty calories but i did put them on my calorie tracker, it added 1000 calories with all my meals yesterday, so not that bad). I just wanted to share with you that it was so nice to feel "normal" again. I know that I still have a way to go (I'm half way to my target weight), but this night out was a special occassion. I don't go out very often, maybe once evry 2 or 3 months, so I won't be doing this often as I don't want to sabotage my weight loss. I didn't get drunk with the 2 cocktails which I was afraid of so it was good all round!

How wonderful! Never, never, feel bad about having a drink or two or going out. . it's wonderful to be normal. . . we all are worth it. . . we should never again feel "guilty" about what we do! I'm so proud of you! I have my rum and colas every friday and saturday evening. . and you know what I don't feel guilty at all! I can however only have 2 cause then i get loopy:001_rolleyes::) I'm such a girl !!!! :scared0:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
