Carrie 4 Posted September 24, 2010 I'm just curious what most folks take for pain. Personally, Tylenol reduces fever and that's about it. I was told no NSAID's. I was also told that my birth control pills were ineffective and I had to switch methods so I had an IUD put in yesterday. OMGOOODNESS, it's bad. I've was up half the night having flashbacks of my first 18 hour labor at least that ended with something cute and loving. Are you guys taking Advil or anything? Jordien 30 Posted September 24, 2010 I thought it was no ibuprofen? Is that the same as nsaid? I'm not sure. Honestly for a headache or a muscle ache, motrin is what works for me. So not sure. Right now I'm on this dillaudid, and it's great. I wonder if we could get that for every day pain. Plus the pill is tiny and it's only 3-hour. I think it's a narcotic though. Hmmm.... good question. Tylenol never does anything for any pain I have. You are month out of surgery? How are you feeling? Do you sleep normally? Any pains around your incisions? I'm anxious to get over the hump of this early time!
Go Kart Mozart 44 Posted September 25, 2010 I take ibuprofen (an NSAID) and wasn't told not to. Oh well.
heathernowak 0 Posted September 25, 2010 I was told I could start taking my birth control pills 30 days after surgery. Why were you told they wouldn't work anymore? So sorry you had a bad night of sleep, that makes everything look worse to me.
LilMissDiva Irene 3,282 Posted September 25, 2010 (edited) I was told I can start taking NSAIDS of any kind after 30 days... giving the tummy some time to heal over... but every Surgeon is diffferent so I'd say you should go with what your surgeon tells you. Tiffykins 673 Posted September 25, 2010 I've taken Advil, Motrin, Aleve, and I take them for everyday type pain. The one thing that I did pre-op with NSAIDs is take it with something on my stomach. I do the same thing post op. I take the pill, and then eat a couple of crackers, or cheese. Just something to put in my stomach with the pills. I've taken the RX 800mg Ibuprofen with zero issue. I know every program is different, but NSAIDs were a big reason the sleeve is so appealing.

I'm anxious to get over the hump of this early time! Hello. I'm 2 days away from being a month out. Most docs who want to keep their license only give the Dilaudid and good stuff immediately after surgery. I was off pain meds by the end of the first 3-4 days which I believe is average or even a little longer than average. Like everyone else I have my good days and not so good days. I have 6 incisions that are almost completely closed, one is being a bit unruley about it. All are red compared to my really pale skin and need time to "mature" and lighten up. I had the Lap Band Laprascopically (sp) and I know the scars will eventually look like scratches. You will continue to feel a little bit better each day, the main thing is to get as close to your Water and Protein goals your doctor sets each and every day and keep up with your Vitamins especially the B12 it will keep you energized and the Protein helps in healing the trauma caused to your body by the surgery. So just hang in there!
