I am having a hard time chocking down anything and am totally NOT hungry. My concern right now is fluids and pain medicine. It takes me 30 minutes to chock down the pain medicine and then I sip on my Protein Shake which I make with Water. I finally slept for 4 hours so I need to make up some drinking. I am worried about dehydration. I can't believe you guys able to eat anything with texture. I wish. I must be more swollen then most.

Cherise, you certainly are not alone. I was starting to feel out of place myself because I was sleeved 2 weeks ago now, and I'm still having a hard time with even thicker Soups. I see some are already on their puree's that were sleeved within a few days of me. That is so far beyond me I cannot even imagine it. I'm supposed to be able to begin my puree's on the 5th, and I'm wondering how I will even hold up. The thought right now is kind of scary. Sometimes I'm even afraid I'll live on Protein Shakes for the rest of my life!! :biggrin0:

However I have to remember that every day is a new day, and maybe that day when I wake up I'll be ready for it. I don't know... but it also seems like the day they cut out my stomach they took not only my hunger but my appetite too... it's so weird for me... I hope I can get used to it. :001_smile:

I was actually afraid to eat the first week and had absolutely no appetite so I found myself weak and nauseated all the time. I started just nibbling on my family's dinner and noticed I feel so much better. I can't manage to keep ANY of the Protein down so I'm having to use food as a protein source.

Try GoGurt...that was the first thing I "ate" and it made a world of a difference. Then I tried a little oatmeal, then some mashed sweet potatoes, and a little cornbread dressing. Now I can only eat a couple baby spoons full before I'm totally stuffed bu hey, I'm eating! Also keep in mind that the larger you were befoe surgery, the more trauma your tummy went through. I was only 206 and I had managed to "shrink" my stomach quite a bit before surgery.

Everyone moves at their own pace and I believe the recommended diets are too "perfect" for everyone to follow. We aren't all the same and even though we had the same surgery we won't heal the same or progress the same! My cousin had the bypass in Alabama and went home already eating mushies! No liquid phase at all! Trust me, you will know when you can handle it...take it one small bite at a time. Also try coconut water....I'm drinking it today and I swear I feel 1000000% better! Must be the Vitamins and potassium!

Good luck guys! We are all going to be just fine!

My inlaws are here visiting, and I'm in my nightgown, boobs flopping around and everything, and I just don't care.

I was laughing my butt off at this. The day after surgery, my husband and I couldn't stand sitting in the hotel room staring at each other, so we went out shopping. Mind you, I wasn't putting a bra on for love nor money and I was wearing a denim dress, crocs, and George my lovely pain pump hanging around my neck. I figured I didn't know anyone in Vegas and was never going back so, what the hey. The only person who approached me was a saleslady. She saw me wandering back and forth among the motorcycle jackets because they had some super cute ones that would fit me RIGHT NOW down to a size small and I was fighting with myself not to buy one then and there!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
