Any pre VSG migraine sufferers out there?

Recommended Posts

I am pre VSG and have one to three Migraines a month. I was wondering there is anyone else out there that has suffered with migraines before surgery and what happened after surgery? ~thanks Bulldawgma

Hello,

I am a post sleever and was having terrible Migraines pre op, especially doing the diet. Since the surgery I have only had one (but I work nights and it is usually from lack of sleep). The first thing I noticed was even though I wasn't eating and wasn't hungry I still didn't have any migraines. Let me know if this helps.

I haven't had the surgery yet, but when I told my neurologist that I was planning to have surgery, he was very supportive and thought that I would have fewer Migraines. Can't wait to be on the other side and test that theory out.

That is very encouraging news Cielle! Migraines are awful. Best of luck on your surgery. I do not have an approval or a date yet. I am still getting the info ready for the insurance company, but that is better than self pay (for the kids college fund anyway). Thanks for your reply!

I used to have a few migranes a month. Since my surgery almost 4 months ago, I have had one! I don't know why, but who cares, lol.

Hey,

Me too... used to get them for a variety of reasons... 12 weeks post op and no migraine... a few headaches but no migraine... I will consider this a NSV...lol

It will happen for you. I went to a seminar in March and my surgery will be in November. I'm just grateful that my insurance started covering the sleeve in July. I really didn't want to go with one of the other options and I don't think my husband would have been too supportive if I'd gone with RNY.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
