What Grinds your Gears?

Recommended Posts

I have a hard time controlling my temper when people over explain things that could be sumed up in a few short sentences.

You know, like when people just keep rambling on about something thinking they need to get down to all the technicalities of why they would chain a dog up a certain way. Ohhh that really grinds my gears.

Hem-Hawers, mind-changers, bush beaters, indecision makers. I hate it when you ask someone a question and they cant decide on the answer. Or they answer with..."I dont care. What do you think?" I am tempted to tell them that I THINK they need to make a #$%!$# decision!

I agree with you on your gear grinder..... comes in at a close second for me too.

God that felt good to vent. Anger Management on LBS website....lol

Flakes. I hate when people flake out on me when they said they have done something.

My mother said she was going to come down next month after my plastic surgery so that i would have an extra set of hands for the week after I get home. Today she told me that it just eats into her schedule too much and she just can't do it. That she wouldn't get back till 2 days before her new project starts, and that it didn't give her time to get her house cleaned and her car worked on before she had to go heads-down on this project.

um...ok. thanks for letting me know after already setting up the travel arrangements and the child care with other family members.

You know...if you give your work on something, esp when it is someone really needing your asst. then you should be strung up if you change your mind.

I also hate it when people feel the need to answer a cell phone in the middle of a movie, or even leave the damn thing on in the first place...

I have my phone on all the time and I will answer in the movies if it is my mom. When I go out, I leave my son at home with my mom. If there is an emergency, she needs to be able to get ahold of me no matter what I'm doing.

Well that is an understandabe circumstance.. It is the "I think we should have Pasta salad for dinner" conversations that take 5 minutes during the climax of the movie that grinds my gears.

Oh boy this could turn into a rant for me! The Cell phone. Makes me crazy. I dont particularly care when they ring, its when the person cannot seem to answer the stupid thing until every single person around them knows they have a cell phone and exactly what tune it is playing. Then if that is not bad enough to have to listen to all these stupid conversations that are always really loud because people just cannot talk on them in a normal voice... dont even get me started on people driving and yapping on them..... I could go on and on... Cell phones....make me crazy!

ALL of your stuff, plus MUMBLERS!!

I seem to have married one. I ask him a question and if I am lucky he mumbles a response and I only have to ask him to repeat it 3 or 4 times. The first time he repeats it is at the same volume but this time with his back turned. I usually have to give up before I understand. If choking someone out of frustration was legal...

Then again, he will interrupt an important task, for example, reading directions on the freeway, to have me look "over there". This is where I whip my head around only to wonder what I am supposed to be looking for. He wants me to see someone in a car, or a new business, or a dog.

Geez, just typing this is making me hostile. I need someone to screen my interruptions.

We have a "rule". I have permission to either ignore or get angry with the third thing. I am only obligated to split my attention two directions. Add a third and it is your head. Fair? I think so.

I'm an over explainer. Mostly because I don't want to have to explain AGAIN. Listen the first time and you've got it ALL.

Are you over it yet?

P.S. This thread belongs in the "Rants and Raves" forum.

Emails or posts that are either one huge sentence, or tons of sentences, but all in one paragraph. It's SO hard to read... I usually end up skimming and then giving up.

People that go into painful detail when telling a story...

Example: We got there at 3:22, not it must have been 3:25 becasue blah blah blah, or no wait...it had to be at least 3:30 because blah blah blah and then we stayed on the 4th floor, no maybe it was the 5th, it was going to be the 7th, but then blah blah blah so I guess it was the 4th floor ......etc etc......you get the picture!! WHO CARES!!!!

You caught me just after I've finished having a tantrum! My husband. Good lord, he is SUCH an accountant. It drives me insane. I account for every single bleeding cent I spend, right down to a newspaper. It all gets computed, entered on the spreadsheet, he's forecast 10 years ahead exactly how much money we'll have etc. I dont buy a coffee without him knowing about it. He's a control freak.

Its good because without him I'd be broke. I'm terrible, I dont plan, I just spend when I feel like it and he's reigned me right in and I'm a lot more responsible now.

But we need to move house, we need a bigger house and we need to live in a more convenient area. We've needed to do this for about five years now. But he overanalysies it, he does it all on Excel, he works out every possible permutation and the end picture of taking on a huge mortgage (Melbourne is a very very expenisve city) looks too scary when you see it all broken down to the nth degree. He works out that if we stay in this house we'll have say $300,000 more in 10 years time. He works out whether it would be better to rent, keep both cars, sell one car and use public transport blah blah blah. He works out the cost over our entire lifetime of paying for private education for our kids and then considers it in that light.

We never flipping well do anything because he's worked out exactly how much its going to cost extrapolated over 20 years. He knows that if I go and buy an ice cream today for $3.00 it will actually end up costing us $145 over the next five years.

It is insane. We've just again had another HUGE fight over housing because I insist that its got every much to do with needs, wants and our kids education (not good options for secondary school in this area), he thinks its all about dollars. I think if we can afford it week to week and its what we need, I dont care to know that we'll pay an extra $400,000 in interest over the next 20 years, to me that's the cost of moving to a bigger house in a better area.

And he totally neglectst the fact that while we live in this house, we have no mortgage as we own it outright, we spend our money on lifestyle factors - nice cars, holidays, etc.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
