Recommended Posts

6 chicken breasts

1 can corn with juice

1 can your choice Beans or lentils no juice

1 bottle salsa

cook 6 hours in crockpot medium heat

this recipe is great and lowcal, and for others in the house hold you can serve with tortilla chips or rice

Sounds yummy! I have about 2 1/2 more weeks on mushies, but I will be sure to try this :)

Any other crock pot chicken ideas? Chicken is one of my preop favorites, but now unless it is really moist or really crisp I can't do it.

I make BBQ Pulled chicken

When I am lazy, i just use a bottle of my favorite BBQ Sauce. if you want, you can make your own sauce

3-4 Boneless chicken Breast

Black Pepper

BBQ sauce

and any other spices you like

just toss all into a crock pot, put on high for about 3-4 hours and then shred! it's nothing fancy, but tastes so good and the meat is completely moist.

you can eat as a sandwhich, by itself, tacos, quesadillas or with nachos

I make everything in the crockpot....

chicken you can make it into gumbo, spice it up with old bay, cayenne, salt, pepper, add okra, you can add a little arrowroot powder to thicken up right before serving.

Also white chilli, with tomatillos (they sell them canned you can blend up) or add a few cans of Herdez green salsa...this may be a little spicey, add some white Beans and season it up.

Taco Soup, with chicken instead of ground beef, but same principle. Add a can of rotel/diced tomatos, corn, couple cans of Beans, pack of taco seasoning, pack of ranch dressing seasoning (this has loads of sodium, so you may have to up Water intake)

Chicken, 1 jar of pace picante sauce, 1/2 jar of sugar free grape jelly (makes BBQ flavor)

Chicken, 1 jar of pace, 1 8oz pack of fat free cream cheese, a few dabs of tabasco, add corn and beans

chicken, can of cream of mushroom (healthy choice low sodium), 1 pack of mushrooms (raw sliced), spice up with salt pepper, paprika, cayanne. You can add bell pepper and corn.

Thank you!!! I am in love with these ideas. I needed some new ideas, I get foods that work well for me and I get super stuck! This will definitely mix things up.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
