I should have started my period yesterday. I'm typically every 28 days on the dot and still haven't started. This would be my first period after my sleeve. Is it normal to be late the first period after??? And I'm definitely NOT preggers. What's going on :thumbup1: Please help!

Although i haven't been sleeved yet and don't know what others' experiences have been like, I'd say that if you're late it's totally normal given what your body just went through. Much like if you got it twice in 6 weeks.... Your body just went thru stress and trauma and will need to adapt. I hate being irregular too since i don't like sudden 'i'm here!' surprises...so i know it would bother me too. :lol0: But hey....if it's your current biggest problem then I'd say you're doing pretty well. :thumbup1: haha

I wish I had been warned. For some reason I didn't have issues with my Lap Band causing wacky periods post-op. My OB/GYn refuses to trust the pill though with me ven though I made it clear I had a VSG. I go Thursday for a Mirena IUD. Not real excited as I had a bad experiences with constant spotting previously with this but we shall see. I'm trying really hard to be more positive and open minded. :)

Heya :)

Glad to see that it's all normal. I went the opposite way and had a random second period two weeks through my cycle. But I had stopped taking my pill for a month as recommended by the anaesthetist because I knew that I couldn't take any mediction on op day and missing a day meant I'd be out of synch for a while.

I guess it's going to be a little while til things settle down and get back to normal. Our bodies need time to adjust. Hormones everywhere etc.

Hope it regulates itself for you soon :biggrin2: xx

Hey Carrie, Have you had this before? When I had it it was terrible! Heavy periods that lasted for 7days or more, back pain like I was having back labor. I hated it! It lasted for 4mos and I had my tubes tied. All I can say is UGH!

I was also a week late. That was weird for me. Normally when I gain weight I miss periods and when I lose a lot of weight, I get it every two weeks for a couple of months. I'm not complaining, though.

I'm with you sister! My period is like clock work. I am 4 day post op, I started my period two days ago (I was about 5 days late). My period has actually been super light when it's normally heavier, so just a heads up!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
