First week of waiting...

Recommended Posts

My authorization request went in last Monday, so I still have another week of waiting, It hasn't been bad. I am walking in faith and find myself saying, "after my surgery, I will...." I guess that is a good thing, I am remaining positive and looking forward to starting this next phase of my life. I enjoy reading everyone's posts and especially love to see the before and after photos,. Just did glamour shots with my sisters yesterday and am looking forward to doing the after ones once I have had the surgery. I have avoided pictures for so long because I hated to see what I have done to myself, I remember thinking that WLS was the easy way out and was positive I could handle this on my own. My biggest regret is that I waited so long to do this. This has not been an easy journey, but I am better for it. I am sure once the approval comes through, I will probably has that OMG moment when I realize this is going to happen and I better be prepared. Continued success for those who have undergone this life saving procedure, and God bless those of use who will be making this journey shortly.

Why am I not surprised? Called the patient coordinator who told me she would be happy to follow up with the insurance company. This happened on Monday and I have still not heard back from her. I called my insurance today who claims they have no request on file. She did promise to call me back tomorrow and now I am upset with myself that I did not call my insurance to make sure they received the request. I dont have too much faith in the coordinator either because she NEVER returns phone call! Not back to square one, but pretty upset that there has been no progress. Any suggestions?

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
