2 weeks out, what are you eating?

Recommended Posts

I am 2 weeks out today and just wondered what everyone was eating? And do you feel like you are hungry all the time? Please list like what a typical day is for you! I need some input on this!

It depends on the doctor's post op diet. Some people still get Protein drinks and Clear liquids. Others get to move on to mushies like creamed Soups, cottage cheese etc. Some doctors have a rule that if it can fit through a straw then it is fine (so they puree different things).

I hate to be so general but if you give us an idea of what your post op states we can give some solid idea's on what has been used by other sleevers :scared0:

I was sleeved on 8/31 and I am eating just about anything..with the exception of raw veggies and things like steak. Tonight I had some roast chicken and it was yummy.

At two weeks, my surgeon's plan said I could start the mushies. You'll want to check with your Dr first, but I've been living on the following:

Cream of Wheat

Egg (1, with a little salsa)

String cheese

Cottage cheese

Soups from a local Soup shop (puree'd)

Lite Yogurt

etc. It hasn't been that bad. Again, check with your Dr, but those are the things that are working for me.

I've been whizzing up just about anything I think might be suitable. Not all have been successful mind! As long as there are no lumps and it is a yoghurty consistency it should be ok.

So far I've done:

Fish in white sauce with broccoli and mash potato - blended with a little extra stock to loosen

Portion of bean and beef chilli - blended with some lite soft cheese so it wasn't too spicy

Cottage pie and carrots - blended with gravy to loosen (it was what my Mum made for everyone else so I got to have some too)

Yoghurt and banana - blended with a little apple juice to loosen

Hope that gives you some ideas! xx

So how much are you eating at one time? I guess I just feel as if I am also eating too much at one time, but I am actually hungry. I am having greek yogurt like half a cup with honey, mashed potatoes like half a cup. Also Soup blended in blender, ricotta cheese with a little spaghetti sauce, cream of wheat with pb in it. I guess I just wonder if this is ok? I had the band before and I couldn't eat anything and I could always feel it restricting. With the sleeve I really can't feel it and I guess I am comparing to the band?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
