Brian66 85 Posted September 23, 2010 Roboniko, My wife died of cancer almost 4 years ago when she was just 41. I made the decision to have the surgery because I felt that it was critical for me to re-claim my health so that I could be there for my three children. I am the only parent they have left. It has been scary making the decision and going through with the surgery without having my wife to rely on for love and support. One of the things I've thought about since having the surgery is how my wife would have felt about it. She battled her weight her whole life and I think there is a chance that she would have felt some of the same things that your wife is feeling. I don't have any real answers for you, but I would suggest buying her a big bunch of flowers, giving her a hug and a kiss and telling her that you are doing this for her (and the kids if you have any) as much as you are doing it for you. After that, let the chips fall where they may and concentrate on doing what you have to do for yourself and your family. She will come around in time. Good luck to you. Keep us posted! roboniko 2 Posted September 24, 2010 Well, back home now and doing the usual. Sipping and walking and draining... Most of the soreness is gone except when i cough. Still lots of gurgling. Overall doing OK. She has been there along with my best friend who is also wanting to do the surgery. So between the 2 of them they are taking care of me. SO she is supportive in the physical sense anyways, helping me with things so it is a start. Hope things keep going in the right direction.....
