So I got a P90X set on Ebay for my boyfriend and I. I'm not starting it for another couple of weeks, once I'm cleared for more intense exercise, but we have to go shopping for supplies this weekend. Can someone enlighten me as to what I need? The introductory video mentioned a set of weights and yoga mats, but I think I've also seen something about a resistance band set. Is anyone familiar with it? I'm wondering if I need different bands, or if one set of bands is sufficient.

Just remember to take it slow and do what you can. P90x is very intense and allot of the exercises are body weight based--this can be hard on some of us bigger folks because we are heavy and doing something like normal push ups may be out of the question let alone 6 different types of a push up in one workout. So you do what you can with push ups on your knees or against a wall leaning etc until you build up to doing them regular. The Pause button is your friend. That said, the principles are very solid and I plan to use some of the videos as tools in my journey to help challenge myself. I think the best part about the whole thing is you can do all of it without having to go to a gym. Some may not be aware, but there was an original P90 program before the P90X that starts at an easier level if you feel overwhelmed at the intensity level. Personally, I am continuing to run for my cardio and try to mix in some of the exercises now and then from P90x as a tool.

I'm more concerned about my boyfriend than myself for the intensity level, haha...I used to box competitively, so I'm used to very challenging workouts. We haven't started it yet because I got an awesome discount for an unlimited one-month bootcamp, so we've been going there instead. Lots of plyometrics, we did 2 days in a row and today I'm pretty sore! But I got us resistance bands, weights ranging from 3 to 20 lbs, a chin-up bar, and yoga mats, so I'm excited to start P90X in November once the bootcamp's over.

I just wanted to revive this P90X thread because I am starting to do it tomorrow... and I was wondering how the program is going for people... and whether or not the extra materials that you need to buy are mandatory???

I have yet to get around to it, this semester I'm taking 4 (maybe 5) dance classes, so I think this will have to wait til the summer....except for I still have a 1-month bootcamp pass that I was planning to use in the summer, so maybe not even then!

Whoohoooo!!!! Way to go!!! Keep it up - wow, I so look forward to being able to do this myself. And you know it's working because you're feeling it!

Are you taking before's and after's? You gotta do that, like those folks on the infomercial. The differences are so incredible!!

Thank you for posting this, please keep checking in!!! :D

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
