I am new to this site and at this time are exploring my options for WLS. I was wondering what the avg weight loss is for people that have low BMI's. Mine is 32% and I realistically only have 35-40lbs to lose. I have struggled with weight loss and the up and down battle my entire life and am sick and tired of the games. I would love to have this wonderful tool, but am afraid that I would lose too much weight and look sickly? Can anyone answer these question or give me your honest opinion?? :confused1:

Welcome, I went in at around 33 BMI but it hasn't been long enough to give you my experience. There are several people here that had the surgery at lower BMI's and have been very happy with the results. I too plan on trying to stop losing somewhere in the mid to high 130's. I have no desire to lose my bubble butt or my curves. I just want to scale them down a bit. Heck I may even try to stop at around the low 140's. First I just gotta make it there :D

I was a 32.8 BMI when I started - 203 pounds. I am now 136.4 pounds after 7.5 months. I'm still deciding between a goal weight of 125-135 pounds. My husband and I don't believe I look sickly, but definitely thinner than when I started.

I don't believe I would have had this surgery for 40 pounds. What BMI do you want to be after surgery?

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
