I have been walking just around the block - maybe a quarter mile, since last week. I was sleeved on the 31st of August. It was soooo hard and I was very nautious and slow and can't walk my dog since she pulls on the leash. But ths weekend was a littler better, i am very exhausted, but feeling a little human again after surgery - so its time to start walking more. 30 Min tomorrow morning!

My doctor told me no walking at the gym on treadmill until week 4 and only for 30 minutes. I thought it was pretty lame considering I wasn't planning on putting it highest incline and running my ass off. I was already running errands, doing shopping and normal house cleaning. I just wasn't lifting or stretching anything too much.

So last week on week four I went to gym one day and walked 30 minutes at a turtle speed, the next day I said screw it and went for an hour and a half hike up this road that everyone uses to train on. I never went more then a brisk walk and it was a steady winding crawl to the top. It felt great, but I wouldn't have tried it at week 2. I am rambling sorry lol.

I guess you gotta ask the doctor first. But I would say a walk around the neighborhood wouldn't be too much as long as it isn't 106 degrees outside like it was during my 2nd week.

I'm two weeks out tomorrow and my Dr's "bible" says that from an exercise standpoint, weeks 3 and 4 are 10-15 minutes of walking 2 days a week. I feel <A LOT> better than that. Tomorrow evening I'll head out and see how it feels.

Then again, I did a lot of walking the year leading up to the sleeve. Typically did 3-5 miles a few times a week. I'm guessing I'll feel fine and want to walk more - but we'll see.

Hi, Like you said everyone is different. On day 15 I started walking an hour a day 5 times a week. Before the surgery I was walking 2 hours with heavy hills I won't be able to do the hills until week 4-6 depending on what the surgeon saids on my week 4 visit.

i think you can start walking on the 3rd week....you will feel great and it will help you if in any case you have gases......don't push it too hard, start slowly and start adding more and more time.....goodluck.:confused1:

My surgeon's office advises his patients to start walking for about 30 minutes daily from the time you get out of the hospital. This can be done in 5 minute increments. Walking will be the exercise for at least the first 4 weeks. Begin resistance training as soon as your doctor clears you.

well since they woke me up every hour to walk the hospital hallways, i decided it was okay to keep doing those types of walks, so every hour i walk the treadmill or outside for 5 minutes, at the end of the day i get 45-55 minutes!

I was walking SLOWLY about a mile on day 6 (carrying a bottle of water). DON'T get bored and try to do alot more than you should. 3.0 mph and 2.5-3.0 elevation on the treadmill on day 12-13....ohhhh i needed the liquid lortab that night. Just take your time and everthing will get easier.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
