Portable protein snacks

Recommended Posts

I am headed to NYC this week and I am looking for a couple Snacks I can take with me. I am going with my mom and sister and they will likely just eat two meals a day. I get full SO fast (at each setting) that I need to snack to get any real Protein in.

So I am thinking of bringing string cheese, pistachios, almonds, beef jerky...

Any other ideas? I am not concerned about fat or carbs.

Thanks guys!!

I recently started a thread called looking for Snacks and people gave me a lot of great portable ideas, one of them was the 100 calorie packs of cocoa-dusted almonds. Take Protein Shots too so you don't short yourself on protein!

Where do you get the Protein Shots, and what kind do you use?

I get mine in the PX - I live/work on a military installation. The soldiers love their Protein powders, shakes, pills, etc!! I use Body Fortress Super whey Shot - 26g's of protein, 110 cals. They taste horrible but at only 2.9 Fluid ounces it is easier to down that then to slowly sip an equally horrible Protein Shake. You can also get Protein Shots online at drugstore.com, Amazon.com, gnc.com, and I'm sure others. I've noticed that on days where this is the first thing I have in the morning, I have great energy all day and low interest in food.< /p>

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
