How much are you eating?

Recommended Posts

I was just wondering how much your Dr. has you eating. I was told to eat 4 ounces 3 times a day with no Snacks in between. Just wanted to see what the normal amount is for everyone. Thanks.

My Dr said between 3/4 to 1C. He also wants 3 meals a day, 4 hours between each meal and no Snacks.

I can eat more than 1C at times, and I do have popcorn (pop secret 100 calorie bag) but I'm losing weight at a good rate so he doesn't seem to mind about the quantity or snack.< /p>

My doc just says to eat normally - basically 3 meals, eat till I'm satisifed, eat a snack if I"m actually hungry in between meals. Most days I eat 4 times.

It can be all over the shop though - I do have to work at not just grazing all day long and never eating a proper meal - or days like today when I've been out to a playcentre with kids and their friends. I've had about 8 cups of coffee today and only just now ate half a sandwich - its 4pm here and that's the first thing I've eaten all day.

Most days are good days though.

No wonder everyone is starving and not thinking their fills work! Eat normal servinga and you will lose, God willing. I eat 3-4 oz of Protein and 1 cup of salad or veggies for llunch and dinner. For Breakfast it is either a cup of eggs and one pancake, once a week or a pack of weight control oatmeal daily.

I do not snack on a regular basis (yesterday I ate 3 fig Cookies...5 Cookies a serving 125calories and somedays I may have a kiri cheese sqaure). I had to stop buying Peanut Butter cuz it would call me to the kitchen and force me to eat spoonfuls of it all day!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
