pcindy 8 Posted September 10, 2010 I'm 3 1/2 weeks post-op and for the last few days, absolutely EXHAUSTED beyond belief! It's like the worst jet-lag I've ever had. Just dragging myself around and haven't even gone to work the last couple of days. My friend who had a VSG 3 years ago said she had the same thing and that it lasted a few months! I'm getting in plenty of Protein, carbs, good fats, and about 1200-1500 calories a day (fluids too). Can anyone else relate to this?
JanePatrick 0 Posted September 10, 2010 I had surgery just 3 days after you on 8/20/10 and I have had several days in a row now where I feel the same as you. I am getting a solid 8-9 hours a night yet all I want to do is sleep.Yesterday and today I have forced myself not to take any naps, and forced myself to do housework and run some errands. It is like pushing a truck uphill to even get up the oomphf to cook my family some dinner. I am no where near the same calorie intake as you though so part of my desire for nothing but sleep might be the low calorie part. I am also at the "dreaded stall" as well. I think my body is finally catching up to what I did to it 3 weeks ago and is rebelling. It will work itself out eventually, I just want it to be sooner rather than later. mp8btpc 33 Posted September 10, 2010 Strangely enough I think going out and getting some exercise first thing in the day helps with overall energy level. You may still want a nap later but you will have more energy. That is at least in my experience. That and time.
cwalker 12 Posted September 10, 2010 Go to your pcp and get a B12 injection once a month, it really helped me energy wise.
BlackBerryJuice 349 Posted September 10, 2010 Make sure you are taking B12 and Iron, as exhaustion could be a symptom of anemia.
pcindy 8 Posted September 13, 2010 I'm taking Iron suppliments and drinking Vitaminwater zero, which has B Vitamins, as well as a multi, and the Vitamins that are in my daily Protein shake. Uch, I'm SO tired! HELP!
Lori21769 14 Posted September 13, 2010 Are you getting a minimum of 60 grams of Protein per day? That is the only thing that saved me from feeling like I was just barely existing for the first three weeks or so.
cwalker 12 Posted September 15, 2010 i was told we might not asorb the B12 like we did presurgery therefore the injection was recommended but if your levels are all ok then the Protein might need to be higher.Take care.:laugh0:
pcindy 8 Posted September 18, 2010 Getting in well above 60g of protein/day, plus all my Vitamins and Calcium. The fatigue is starting to get a little bit better as I start to get more active, ironically.
lil red raider 5 Posted September 18, 2010 My tiredness is from day to day. Some days I feel like doing nothing at all and others I feel like I am the energizer bunny. I take 2500 mcg of sublingual B12 a day. It seems to help.
