Hi TwoStepsBack,

I'm happy to hear you are well.

I was sleeved the same day as you with Dr.Aceves.

Funny how we have different Drs. but I noticed on your pics that we have the same exact bruise. I also have a bruise the same size to the right and a little below my belly button where there is no incision.

That's funny. Wonder what that's from? Just curious.

Yeah I wondered what that was. I had this funny thought that maybe Mr Van den Bossche had rested his knee on my belly to give him some leverage when pulling my removed stomach out!

Funny that you've got the same thing. I'd be interested to know what it is too.

I have bruises everywhere I was touched, but the worst ones are where the blood pressure cuff went. I've been getting cuff bruises for years so that's not new. The strangest is a bruise on one of my breasts. Huh?

When we are under anesthesia they have to move our bodies for us - so they are tugging and pulling on us in all kinds of ways. Most likely where the obscure bruises are coming from. Then we can also get drainage bruises, so where we have been injured in one spot, it can sort of "leak down" to somewhere below when we are again standing up.

Just a little something I learned from something a long time ago.

Either way, it's so nice to see you're doing excellent two steps! The weight melting off is so worth it in exchange for all the bruises and all the terribleness of the first few days of surgery!!:001_unsure:

Ahh yeah I guess that makes sense. Thanks for the explanation!

When I saw my GP yesterday she noted that my rib cage and sternum area is very tender to the touch. Although there is no bruising on the surface she thinks that some sort of chest injury is contributing to these chest pains I've been having.

Who knows? They seem a little better today anyhow :)

Walk round the park, here I come!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
