I am sitting in Hospital Alameter right now with a friend who just had surgery, I had it here six months ago. As long as you have proof that you have applied for passport, birth certificate, ID, and social security card you will be okay even if it doesn't get here in time.

I applied in early August and had mine in time for my 8/30/10 surgery. I did not expedite. The summer rush is over, so turnaround is more like 3 wks right now than 4-6 they quote.

I applied for mine yesterday, the guy at the post office scared shit out of my mom so she made me expedite ours! $200 more. We are leaving for Mexico on the 14th of October! Mom wouldn't trust that the receipt and the other documents would get us back in the country and my husband kept saying that if we got stuck he would leave our asses there! LOL, i said that is ok we have the money you keep the kids!

Oh well, as long as I have it now, I will be ok and mom has on less thing to worry about!

Yeah my aunt and mom both thought I should get my passport just incase something like 911 happened. I didn't want to be held up at the border. So I got mine it was 100 extra to expidite and it's here. A lot of ppl go w/o passport and just use their DL and other documentation.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
